Chinese craft That Docked At Sri Lanka Port, Leaves After 6 Days

A high-tech Chinese exploration ship docked at the strategically important Hambantota harbor departed from Sri Lankan waters on Monday after a controversial six-day visit.
The ballistic missile and satellite tracking vessel’ Yuan Wang 5′ ship was firstly listed to arrive at the Chinese- run harborage on August 11 but it was delayed in absence of authorization by Sri Lankan authorities following security enterprises raised by India.
The Chinese craft arrived in the southern Sri Lankan harborage of Hambantota on August 16 at 820 am original time. It was docked there for loss.
The vessel left the harborage at 4 pm original time, harbor master Nirmal Silva told journalists then.
Its coming harborage call is at China’s Jiang Yin harborage, officers said.
The Hambantota harborage officers said as agreed there was no gyration of the labor force during the call. Sri Lanka handed the necessary backing sought by the Chinese delegacy then during the boat’s visit.
Sri Lanka had asked China to postpone the visit amid India’s enterprises over it. On August 13, Colombo granted the harborage access to the vessel from August 16 to 22 on the condition that it’ll keep the Automatic Identification System( AIS) switched on within the Exclusive Economic Zone( EEZ) of Sri Lanka and no scientific exploration to be conducted in Sri Lankan waters.
Sri Lanka has said that the security concurrence was granted from the Ministry of Defence for the visit of the vessel for loss purposes during the quested period.
It said no gyration of the labor force would take place during the harborage call and the Sri Lankan government was requested to give the necessary backing by the Chinese Embassy in Colombo.
The security and cooperation in the neighborhood are of utmost precedence in handling the issue of the Chinese vessel Wang Yang 5, the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry said in a statement this month.

China says the vessel is used for scientific exploration, but the US Defence Department says the boat is under the command of China’s People’s Liberation Army( PLA) and is able of tracking satellites and bullet launches.
The craft’s appearance at the Hambantota harborage came controversial as China leased the harborage from Sri Lanka in 2017 for 99 times after Colombo failed to pay debts related to the construction of the installation.
Colombo’s nod to the docking of the Chinese exploration vessel was pivotal as the cash-strapped Sri Lankan government is seeking an early bailout from the International Monetary Fund( IMF).
