A top Joe Biden Administration official said that India’s handling on energy-related issues, including those of the present and future, was quite impressive. He also stressed that India-US Energy Dialogue is now renamed as energy action.
A round table was held at the Global Clean Energy Action Forum. David Turk, US Deputy Energy Secretary, stated that hydrogen is an important area for investment by both the US and India.
The United States announced Thursday a USD 8 Billion investment in the hydrogen industry.
We should rename the (India-US energy dialogue) energy action. But it is even more important to get on with all these technology areas. Turk stated that India is doing a lot more work on its grids than we are.
India’s Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Sing is leading the Indian delegation at the Global Clean Energy Action Forum, which is attended by world leaders.
Turk stated that the US India Strategic Clean Energy Partnership: International Lessons and Opportunities was a panel discussion organized by the US India Strategic and Partnership Forum and Observer Research Form America. Turk said that the two countries complement one another in the area of energy and can also work together to address energy-related issues in other parts, including Africa.
He said, “When I was last in India, I was impressed by the fact India is looking into the same issues and technologies as the rest of the world for its clean energy transition and future.”
“I was even more impressed by the fact that a lot the tools and methods we use in the US to accomplish it are complementary to India’s,” said the deputy energy secretary.
Turk stated that Mission Innovation was created by the Indian leadership. The name was also coined in part by Prime Minister NarendraModi.
Ajay Mathur (Director General, International Solar Alliance) stated that hydrogen was the key to solving our energy problems.
He stated, “We must make these types of transitional investments viable and increase their scale so that they become the standard by the end of this decade.”
Anna Shpitsberg, Deputy Secretary of Energy, stated that there is still much work to be done in India and the USA in particular in the field of financing.
