Russia-Ukraine War – Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that the decree for partial mobilization of military personnel had been signed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin made rare remarks to the nation and announced that the decree regarding partial mobilization of its 2,000,000-strong military reserves had been signed. This announcement comes as the war in Ukraine has raged for nearly seven months. Putin stated that the decision was made “to defend the motherland’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”. The West will view it as an escalation.
Putin stated that partial mobilization is what we are referring to. This means that only citizens currently in reserve will be subjected to conscription. And above all, those who have served in the military forces have a certain military specialization and relevant experience.
Putin stated that the move was necessary because Russia had to make an urgent decision to defend people living in “liberated lands”.
Putin’s address to Ukraine comes just days after Russian-controlled areas in Eastern and Southern Ukraine announced plans for referendums to determine whether they wish to join Russia.
Putin spoke out about plans to hold referendums in Ukraine and said that “we support these people”. He also ordered his government’s legal status for volunteers fighting in Donbas, as Russia seeks to liberate the region.
Putin stated, “We don’t have the moral right to give up these people in Ukraine,”
