Russian President also praised India for its transformation from a British colony into a modern state
In his annual address to Valdai Discussion Club (a Moscow-based thinktank), Vladimir Putin praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his independent foreign policy and said that much has been achieved in India under his leadership.
“Under the leadership of PM Modi, a lot has been accomplished. He is a patriotic patriot for his country. His vision of “Make in India” is both ethically and economically important. According to Reuters translation, Mr. Putin stated that India’s future belongs to India and can be proud that it is the largest democracy worldwide.
The Russian president called India’s progress from a British colony into a modern state a remarkable one. He added that India has 1.5 billion people and clear development results which should be admired by everyone.
“India has made remarkable progress in its development, from being a British colony into a modern country. He said that India’s 1.5 billion inhabitants and its tangible development results are reasons to be proud of it.
He also emphasized the ties between India, Russia and called it a special relationship. It has been supported by a long-standing alliance. We have never had any difficulties and we support each other, and that is what’s happening now. It’s something I am certain will happen in the future.
Russian President also stressed that PM Modi had asked him to increase fertilizer supplies, which are vital for Indian agriculture.
“We have increased our volume by 7.6x. He said that agriculture trade has nearly doubled.
The address of Mr. Putin to the Kremlin-affiliated Institute comes as Moscow continues to escalate war in Ukraine eight months after Russia invaded on February 24.
He also criticised the West for playing “dirty tricks” to gain global dominance. He said that he believes “new centres for power” will emerge in the multipolar world sooner or later and that the West must start talking with equals about the future.
He also said that the U.S., its allies, and their actions are not immune to the consequences. During the session, Mr. Putin stated that the West can’t ignore the crises it has created.
