Spain has extended its entry restrictions for visitors from non-EU countries, including the UK, until at least November 15th, meaning you must still show several documents before entering.
On Thursday, September 15th, the extension was published in Spain’s Official State Gazette (BOE).
This means that visitors from non-EU countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia who do not reside in Spain will still be required to show one of three documents in order to enter the country. They are as follows:
- A Covid-19 vaccination certificate – Your vaccination status must meet the validity period requirements of the Spanish authorities. If it has been more than 270 days since your initial vaccination, you must show proof of a booster shot.
- A negative Covid-19 test – This should be a PCR taken 72 hours before departure or an antigen test taken 24 hours before departure.
- A recovery certificate dated within the last six months is required. A medical certificate or recovery record can be used to demonstrate your Covid-19 status.
If the country where you received your vaccination, testing, or recovery certificate is not on the list, you must fill out Spain’s health control form before visiting Spain.
Because the UK is on the list, there is no need for Brits to fill out the form; however, visitors from the United States, Canada, and Australia must.
None of the requirements listed above apply to children under 12.
This means that the restrictions will remain in place during the UK’s October half-t
erm, break when many Brits will be planning trips to Spain.
Despite Brexit, Spain is still Britons’ most popular holiday destination in 2022. According to the most recent data from Spain’s National Statistics Institute, 8.4 million Britons visited Spain during the first seven months of the year (INE).
Except for the requirement to wear a mask on public transportation, pharmacies, hospitals, and care homes, all Covid-19 restrictions in Spain have been lifted.
