Passengers are facing major backlogs Sunday at Vancouver International Airport.
The field is condemning a deficit of security screeners for the detainment, saying in a tweet that a contracted security webbing provider is “ passing a staffing deficit moment at YVR. ”
“ Passengers are seeing longer than normal lines at webbing points. ”
People departing to the United States feel to be particularly affected, although domestic passengers are also facing detainment getting through security.
“ It was my first business trip after my leaves and Vancouver’s field is in shambles, with 200 people( conceivably) losing their breakouts, ” said rubberneck Federica Di Palma.

. Passengers with 6 a.m. breakouts have been in line since 3 a.m., ” Palma said around 11 a.m.
Some people were staying hours to get to a checkpoint.
“ The line was belting around the whole field, ” said Sandra Smith, who was dropping off her business mate Sunday morning. “ People have been in lines for hours with numerous missing their breakouts. ”
Vancouver International Airport did supply a statement.
“ We ’re apprehensive that CATSA’s contracted security webbing provider at YVR is passing a significant and unanticipated staffing deficit moment, ” YVR staff said, in a dispatch.
“ Passengers continue to be reused through security webbing but are passing longer than normal delay times atpre-board webbing points. We haven’t seen any significant increase in passenger figures. This week we equaled 67,000passengers per day at YVR, and the moment’s number was estimated at 69,000. This isn’t the experience we want people to have at YVR and we apologize. ”
The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority( CATSA) is a Canadian Crown Corporation responsible for the security webbing of people and baggage at 89 airfields around the country.
